4 Autumn Makeup Looks to Try This Season

Anyone else ready for autumn? With the new season comes new autumn makeup looks, a trans-seasonal wardrobe and the perfect excuse to start cosying up with your favourite candles and a glass of red. But first, beauty. Scroll down to discover the most wearable autumn makeup trends for the coming months, whether you’re looking for a new eyeshadow shade or an easy way to hold onto your summer glow...

1. Rosy Glow

It’s officially cosy season, and we’ll be wrapped up in knits until further notice. But, aside from layering up in every item from our wardrobe, we’re also thinking about how to warm up our sun-starved complexions throughout the winter months. The answer? Rosy pink blusher. For that healthy, fresh-air flush, Crème Puff Blush in Alluring Rose is our glow-to.

To enhance an autumnal complexion, dip a tapered blusher brush into Crème Puff Blush. Tap off the excess pigments to avoid over-loading the brush, then look into a mirror and smile to reveal the apples of your cheeks. Flick the brush directly over the roundest part of your cheek, then lightly blend upwards and outwards in the direction of your temples. The radiance-boosting blush pigments will catch the light, creating a lit-from-within glow from every angle.

2. Earth-Toned Eyes

The one eyeshadow shade that suits every skin tone? A rich, earthy brown tone. The unsung hero in our eyeshadow palettes, brown is versatile enough to be worn as a light, neutral wash of colour for daytime or dialled up to a nineties-inspired smokey eye in the evening. If you’re fair-skinned, opt for a mink-toned brown, go for a rust-toned brown on medium to olive skin or wear a sweep of rich, cappuccino brown if you have a deeper complexion.

You’ll find each of these shades in the Masterpiece Nude Eyeshadow Palette in Cappuccino Nudes, and all it takes is a sweep to achieve the earth-toned, autumn eye look that’s been taking over the catwalk. First up, choose your most flattering hue from the palette. Then, with a fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply it all over the lid, buffing into the crease and blending upwards to the brow bone to create a cloud-like shape. Finally, use an eyeliner brush to lightly blend shadow along the lower lash line, before adding your favourite eyeliner and mascara. It’s the easiest, chicest eye trend out there.

3. Velvety Lips

What could be more luxe than velvet? A soft, velvet-textured lipstick in a brown-toned nude shade has nineties supermodel beauty written all over it.

Get the look with the perfect prep. To create a smooth canvas for lipstick, buff Miracle Prep Lip Scrub onto dry lips in a circular motion, allowing the moisturising vitamin E to hydrate. Massage the grainy scrub with fingertips and remove with a warm flannel. Then, perfect and plump using the sharpened tip of Colour Elixir Lip Liner. Start by etching around the cupid’s bow to add definition, then continue around the natural lip line, before filling in top and bottom lips. This will act as a long-lasting base for lipstick.

Finally, sweep on Velvet Mattes Lipstick in Dusk; an ultra-chic, ultra-matte hue that delivers pout perfection from day to night. Apply one coat, blot with tissue, then reapply to lock the colour down. This two-coat trick is the key to making your lipstick last (and last).

4. Waterline Eyeliner

Want to make your eyelashes look fuller? Then you’ll love this MUA-approved autumn makeup trend, which sees your favourite black eyeliner etched along the waterline. It’s a subtle fix that lends the appearance of ultra-thick, beyond-fluttery lashes. Plus, it adds definition that’s seriously sultry, whether you wear it alone or with a smokey eye.

We love using Masterpiece Kohl Kajal Pencil for this look, which is ideal for even sensitive eyes. Make sure the pencil is freshly sharpened before use for precise application. Then, look straight ahead in the mirror and use your ring finger to gently expose your lower waterline, before gliding the pencil on in a single, sleek sweep. Repeat on the upper lash line, applying from the inner to the outer corner of the eye. Finish with cult-classic False Lash Effect Mascara to really plump up this doe-eyed look. Flawless.
