4 Summer Makeup Looks Turning Up the Heat

It’s official; summer has arrived, and with it comes a raft of sizzling makeup looks, bringing pops of bold colour and hints of bronze to your beauty kit. Anything goes when the temperature rises but if you’re searching for the hottest trends, we’ve rounded up four to take you through your full social calendar – parties, weddings, holidays and more. Check out these dreamy looks…

1. Coral Crave

The Trend: One swipe of a coral lipstick, and you’ve got it: the easiest, dreamiest summer look around. It’s one of those shades that makes everyone appear instantly sun-kissed, whether their skin tone is warm or cool. Let your lips do the talking by pairing with a soft, nude eyeshadow and a slick of mascara.

When to Wear It: Glide on for summer weddings and warm holiday evenings, when all you need is a touch of lipstick to enhance your tan.

Get the Look: For the ultimate in suits-all lip colour, try Colour Elixir Lip Cushion in Baby Star Coral. Not only will its blend of lip-loving antioxidants help to soothe dry summer lips, but the shiny finish will also add to your healthy, just-stepped-off-the-beach glow.

2. Into the Deep

The Trend: Nothing says ‘summer’ like swathes of an ocean-inspired aqua hue on lids. You could wear it in a bold block of eyeshadow, but liquid eyeliner is our favourite way to try this trend. Teamed with nude lipstick and a sweep of Crème Bronzer, it’s a head-turner for all occasions, morning to night.

When to Wear It: The second you hit ‘Out of Office On’. This look was made for trendy beach clubs and summer parties. If you’re feeling brave, it’s a bold pick for Sunday barbecues, too.

Get the Look: Apply Colour X-Pert Waterproof Eyeliner in Metallic Anthracite or Metallic Turquoise to make the whites of your eyes sparkle, tracing the tip of the pen along the upper lash line and extending out into a small wing. For an extra summery stroke, tap Wild Shadow Pot in Auburn Envy on the inner corners of eyes. This shimmery, bronzy shade lights up lids in the prettiest, freshest way.

3. Nearly Nude

The Trend: No-makeup makeup gets a summery update with a pop of pinky-nude lipstick. Add fluttery eyelashes against a sweep of bronzer, and your natural makeup look appears positively radiant. Plus, it’s the kind of finish that can be dressed up in the evening, simply by intensifying colour on lips or defining your upper lash line with a liquid eyeliner.

When to Wear It: Every. Single. Day. Make this look your summer staple, and you’ll be working flawlessly-bronzed skin all season long. What could be better?

Get the Look: Focus on three points: eyes, lips and cheeks, starting with a dusting of Crème Bronzer along the hairline and cheekbones. Build up warmth, then reach for a plumping mascara to make your lashes look fuller. We love Volume Infusion, which treats eyelashes to a nourishing blend of biotin and keratin. Finally, opt for a lipstick with a hint of satiny shine. Colour Elixir Lipstick in Angel Pink is our pick for silky, subtle colour.

4. Colour Clash

The Trend: Clash colours on eyes and lips by mixing and matching shades from the same family. Our favourite pairing? This flattering combo of fuchsia lipstick against violet eyeshadow. The pink pout is pigmented and punchy enough to take centre stage in this look, while the soft, summery, smokey purple creates a contrast that’s striking without being too avant-garde.

When to Wear It: When you need a night-out glam look, this is the one for you. It’s dressed-up and fun all at once. The only thing missing is your favourite party dress, high heels and a cocktail in hand.

Get the Look: Start with your focal point – the lips – by gliding on Colour Elixir Lipstick in Pomegranate. If lips are slightly dry, buff them first with Miracle Prep Eyeshadow Primer. Once you’ve got your boldest colour on, you can build your eyeshadow up gradually, sweeping the deepest violet shade from the Smokey Eye Drama Kit in Luxe Lilacs across lids. Easy.
