How to Apply the Dreamiest Sunset Eye

Calling all jet setters… If you want to keep that summer vacay feeling all year round, we’ve found your glow-to makeup look: sunset eyes. Not just for holidays, sunset eyeshadow is a trend everyone can get on board with. Think tan-enhancing gold, glow-boosting bronze and luminosity-building metallic hues to light up your makeup, whatever your skin tone. So, whether you’re topping up your tan by the sea or warming up your complexion back home, here’s all you need to know about adding sunset shades to your eye makeup…

Step 1

The best way to wear shimmering sunset eyes is teamed with a fresh, flawless, glowing base. Our pick? Miracle Touch Foundation, which veils your skin in the healthiest, most luminous of glows. Apply with a flat foundation brush for fuller coverage or tap the formula into skin using the slightly damp makeup sponge for a sheerer finish.

Step 2

Time to give skin a glow-up. Swirl a full, fluffy powder brush into Crème Bronzer, choosing either Bronze or Light Gold to suit your skin tone. Each shade features light-catching pigments to enhance your complexion, and the multi-tonal minerals lend a believably bronzed effect every time. To sculpt and bronze in one, suck in your cheeks and apply powder to the hollows, sweeping around the cheekbone in a ‘c’ shape up to your temples. Then, glide the brush lightly underneath the jawline to define and contour.

Step 3

To make sunset eyes last from dusk ‘til dawn, dot Miracle Prep Eyeshadow Primer directly onto lids, then buff lightly into the socket and up to the brow bone with fingertips. This will leave a smooth, silky canvas for the next step.

Step 4

Reach for Smokey Eye Drama Kit in Sumptuous Golds. Dip a fluffy eyeshadow brush into the palette’s lighter bronze shade, tapping off the excess before buffing all over the lid, into the socket and up to the brow bone. Use an eyeliner brush to glide the same shade along the lower lash line, then blend with a cotton bud to soften the line.

Step 5

Load your eyeshadow brush with the darkest bronze shade in the palette, then tap off any excess and look straight ahead into the mirror. Place the eyeshadow brush in the centre of the crease, where your lid meets the eye socket, and move the brush in a ‘windscreen wiper’ motion.

To create that setting sun effect, use a flat-bristled brush to press the pale gold eyeshadow onto the centre of the lid. You can also use your fingertip to build up colour for a light-reflective finish.

Step 6

Complete your radiant look with a slick of Colour Elixir Lip Cushion for a touch of shine, then sweep on your favourite mascara to frame sunset eyes with a picture-perfect finish.
